Picture this: a group of excited besties embarking on a dream vacation to Greece. Sounds like the makings of Instagram-worthy memories, right? Unfortunately, as it turns out, my camera choice left a lot to be desired.

I’ve put a few cameras to the test during my global travels, and there are some that have wowed me and some that… well, let’s just say they didn’t quite measure up. And boy, did I learn this the hard way on that Greece trip.

But don’t worry travellers, you don’t have to suffer the same fate. Head to the bottom of this page for my go-to gear list and links to buy. Trust me, you’ll thank me when you’re snapping stunning and professional-level shots on your next holiday.

Let me tell you about the camera that usually gets all the love, my trusty Canon 5DMk4 -aka, my big-boy, my work horse. I can’t stress enough how much I love this camera when it comes to snapping breathtaking wedding and portrait shots. However, when it came down to carrying it around Europe, let’s just say, it didn’t quite make the cut.

Firstly, it’s size – this camera is a beast, and not in the cool way you might think. It’s a bit heavy and not exactly the most convenient size to lug around while exploring all these unique European gems. The cost? Well, let’s just say if I lost it, I’d probably need to hire a private detective to retrieve it.

So, although my Canon 5DMk4 will always have a special place in my photographer’s heart, I decided to leave it in its cozy camera bag back in the hotel room. No point in adding unnecessary pounds or worry to my European adventure!

Taking my camera on trips was always a hassle – it was too cumbersome to lug around and always seemed to take up too much space in my bag. Not to mention the cost of potentially losing it, even with travel insurance. The thought of dealing with lost or stolen equipment haunted me, especially with a busy schedule of portrait sessions waiting for me back home. Who has time to deal with that? Sadly, my camera stayed in the safety of the accomodation more often than not, missing out on all the amazing sights and memories I could have captured.

But OH DAMN, have I got news for you! I recently discovered a camera that has become my go-to travel companion. I took it with me on my adventure in Europe, where I bounced from country to country for 21 whole days, before living it up in London for a bit.

So, how did I find my new BFF camera? A little YouTubing led me to a vintage-looking beauty that was love at first sight. But it’s not just the exterior that caught my eye – the quality of the snaps I take on this baby are out of this world.

Best of all? This camera is compact and won’t break the bank. That’s right, it’s small enough to fit in my bag without weighing me down and it won’t make a huge dent in my wallet.

This camera is the ultimate travel buddy! It may be small and compact, but don’t let its size fool you – the image quality it produces is mind-blowing! It’s like having a secret photographer’s weapon in your pocket. I take it with me on every portrait session and it never disappoints. You can easily pack it in your handbag, backpack, or beach bag, which makes it perfect for spontaneous day trips.

It may not fit in your pocket, but it pretty much fits everywhere else! Plus, the camera has a fixed lens that is 35mm – the perfect size for capturing stunning landscape shots and beautiful portraits. This baby does it all!

Have you ever wanted to up your photography game without breaking the bank? Look no further than the Fujifilm x100v! Sure, it’s a bit pricier than your average point and shoot, but it won’t cost you an arm and a leg like those fancy-pants professional DSLRs.

At around $2,500, it’s definitely an investment, but one that’s totally worth it in my opinion. This little camera has been my trusty sidekick on countless shoots and I couldn’t be happier with it. So, next time you’re out and about, keep your eyes peeled for the Fujifilm x100v – your photos (and your wallet) will thank you!

This camera has stolen my heart, and not just because of its cool compact size and affordable price tag. The real magic happens when you can select your preferred film simulation right in the camera, making your personal style shine and giving clients a taste of what their final image will look like. It’s seriously my favourite feature! Don’t just take my word for it, check out the snapshots I captured on my trip to Europe below and let me know what you think.
