The Importance of Knowing You: Connecting with the Photographer

As a photographer, it’s crucial for me to have a connection with my subjects. Understanding you as a person, your likes, dislikes, hobbies, and emotions allow me to tailor the photoshoot to your unique personality. A maternity photoshoot is more than just clicking pictures; it’s about capturing your essence and your feelings at this pivotal moment in your life.

For instance, during the maternity session with Alex and Quinn, I fortunately already knew a bit about their background, their interests, and their love story. Knowing their story allowed me to create a photoshoot that felt genuinely true to them whilst honouring their journey into parenthood.

Alex had the idea to head to West End, Ohope for her photo session because this is where a lot of ‘life’ has happened for the couple. West End is a special place to these two and because of her keen surfing background it only made sense!

My Thoughts on Maternity Photography in Today’s World

Realistically, each pregnancy moment you’ll experience is not going to be a joyous one (morning sickness etc) but with a maternity photo session we can capture all of the real and heart fluttering moments that remind you of why this journey is such a special and monumental one.
