One of the most exciting aspects of my job is the opportunity to explore new destinations, places I likely would have never visited if not for my incredible clients. This wedding I photographed in Byron Bay was no ordinary affair; it was rich in family history and friendship that spanned the globe. I am very grateful to share with you, Claire + Seb’s beautiful love story and some snaps from this one-of-a-kind day—believe me, it’s as vibrant as the bridesmaids’ dresses 😍
A Kaleidoscope of Colours
Imagine a palette of stellar colours, with each shade worn by a bridesmaid as stunning as the shade she strutted 😍 This was among the unique and magical aspects of the celebration in Byron Bay. Their bouquets were beautifully matched to the colours of their outfits, creating a uniquely cohesive and stylish look that was distinctly their own!
Centerstage to this burst of colours was the lovely Claire, our bride. Her bouquet was a beautiful blend of each of her bridesmaids’ colours, which tied the unity of friendship together effortlessly (and made for stunning portrait capturing).
Home is Where the Heart Is
Stepping onto the groom’s family farm held a lot of significance, as it represented a connection to Seb and his family’s history—a place brimming with childhood memories. There’s something truly remarkable about exchanging vows in the very place that shaped you! The family farm became another witness to their new chapter together, as one.
Gathering from the Ends of the Earth
They say love knows no boundaries, and this couple’s big day stood as a testament to that. Family and friends came flying in from all corners of the world with each one bringing their eager feet, ready to PARTY! 🥂
The bride’s mother brought more than just excitement from New Zealand; she brought a piece of home with her, completing the circle that surrounded the happy couple.
Light, Camera, Action!
Now for the star trick up my sleeve—my secret to those sultry, dreamlike reception photos with a hint of motion we call ‘light drag.’ Wonder how they’re done? With an eagerness to fit yourself in the centre of the mosh pit paired with just the right camera settings, you can capture a still in time that’s alive with energy:
- ISO: 1600 – Welcome the light, but not too much!
- Aperture: f/11 – Everything’s in focus, from smiles to tears.
- Shutter Speed: 1/15 – Slow enough to dance with the light.
It’s about balance, like love, finding that sweet spot between stillness and movement to capture the raw emotion and energy of each moment.
This was a day where every frame told a story of timelessness, connection, and joy. Byron Bay gifted us its gorgeous landscape, and the couple—with their families and friends—gifted me (and my camera) with a heartwarming display of love and laughter.
It’s your love story and your big day, after all, and it deserves nothing short of epic memories frozen in time. May your days be as filled with colour, love, and laughter as this stunner, Byron Bay wedding.
